This one is for my girls. It's Donna Summer's Breakaway (although this remix takes about 2 mins before it gets into the real song. can't find the original - sorry!).
This song was in heavy rotation on the club circuit back in the day. It was the perfect Girls Night Out song:
"Forget about the bad times, remember all the good times."
"Hold your head up high" and be strong, with your girls by your side.
We each had some really tough challenges to face individually. But we always had each other. There was a shoulder to cry on when that was needed. A safe space to be silly and giddy. We had company to imagine and embark on great adventures (Fire tower picnic? Seriously. who's idea was that?) I wouldn't be the person I am today without these remarkable ladies.
Now that we're scattered all over the globe, let me take a moment to remember the original Girls Night Out and my closest and best friends (despite the distance!) I miss you guys.
